Performance issues

When there are a lot of transactional logs the application becomed non resposive and borderline unusable.

Even after the list has finished downloading, clicking the dropdown causes a second (not responding) hang for several minutes.

We are currently unable to use the product as a result.

version: 12.7.24 professional

We take 5 minute log backups, these are used for log shipping as well as general restores.

History for 6 months, so quite a few.

We recommend the following:

  • For long-term storage of backup copies, use one storage location. You can also specify a shorter retention period for transaction logs compared to full backups.
  • For log shipping, use a different storage location with a significantly shorter retention period, such as 1 or 7 days (the storage locations can be the same—just use different directories in the same destination).

In future releases, we plan to improve the performance of our application to better handle a large number of transaction logs.
