Im current testing this tool.
We have the following database servers.
Azure SQL
MS SQL
MySQL
Azure SQL and MS SQL are working as intended and i have tested back and restores.
MySQL server seems to have an issue where the connection when tested fails instantly.
to me it doesn’t even look as it the application is trying to make the connection.
it make no difference what server address i put in the application fails.
I have installed the latest C++ redistribution as suggested.
this is a windows 2019 Data Centre version with the latest windows updates installed.
Just for clarification
this is a remote MySQL server and im trying to connect over IP
the machine on which the application is installed is a Windows server which has NOT got MySQL installed.
It seems you have specified the incorrect path; the path should lead to the bin folder of MySQL, not the folder where SQLBackupAndFTP is installed.
If you are connecting to a remote MySQL Server, please install MySQL Workbench on the computer where SQLBackupAndFTP is installed and then specify the path to the bin folder of Workbench (for example, C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench 8.0 CE.
We can extend the trial upon your request. To do so, please provide us with your App ID (“Help” > “About”).
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Hello Alexander,
I’ve got the same issue, about the bin folder, I’m trying to take a backup of a remote mysql that is on an ubuntu instance, and I’m connecting it over the IP. The sqlbackup and ftp is on my local windows pc.
How do i give the path of bin folder, what might be the path?
For incremental backups to work correctly, SQLBackupAndFTP needs to be installed on the same server as the database. Since SQLBackupAndFTP is a Windows-based application and your MySQL server is on a Linux instance, this setup is not feasible.
As an alternative, you might consider using SqlBak, which is designed to manage backups on Linux servers.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out.
