We have a lot of databases to backup under one job (splitting this into several jobs doesn’t make sense), however, as our client base grows (as it does weekly to monthly), we have to constantly edit the job and check-off the new databases. Our main issue comes down to there are other DBs in the Server that do NOT need to be in this backup job, but we have hundreds of them and the current check-list is very hard to manage this selection.
We suggest that the software allow “External Lists” to select databases; this could either be a File Source (one row per DB name), maybe even a SQL Table Source? This would make it very easy for any of our implementation staff to just edit the file source to add/remove databases that need to be backed up for a particular job.
