Sudden error when starting SQLBackupAndFTP 12.2.3

Hi, I bought and installed SQLBackupAndFTP on May 10th and had it working nicely on my Windows 2016 Server. Suddenly, on May 19th after a successful early morning backup it didn’t work again.
In the event viewer the Watchdog service complains ‘Cannot start service SQLBackupAndFTP Client Service on computer’.
Windows reports:
'Fault bucket 1952027571904124309, type 4 Event Name: APPCRASH
Problem signature:
P1: SqlBak.Job.Cli.exe
P2: 2.13.0.0
P3: 5c73fe48
P4: KERNELBASE.dll

I cannot locate any updates that happened on or before that date that may be causing this. Any ideas?

Well, I tried an uninstall/reinstall which only made things worse but after a reboot of my server one more reinstall worked fine and now the service seems to work fine!
