Not launching on Win Server 2019

Have just come across this tool, tried on my Win10 laptop and works great. Installs OK on Windows Server 2019 (virtual) machine, but fails silently when trying to launch. Event viewer shows the following:

Application: SBF.Application.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The application requested process termination through System.Environment.FailFast(string message).

I can see other topics in here suggesting it works OK on Win Server 2019. I encountered no error messages when installing and this is a nearly-new box with little else installed. I’ve also tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no effect. The Service is installed and running, but after attempting to open the application, the service is then stopped.

Hi Derek_Pattenson,

Could you please try to run Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool and check if it resolves the issue?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ran the repair tool, which identified and fixed four issues. Then tried to restart the SqlBackupAndFtp service; it starts, then immediately stops. The Application event log shows this:
Faulting application name: SqlBak.Service.exe, version: 3.0.8.0, time stamp: 0x5fce3e8f

I tried uninstalling SBFT with the intention of re-installing; uninstall gave a successful message, but SqlBak.Service is still showing in TaskManager (as “Suspended”) and won’t let me End Task. Trying to re-install fails as the DLLs are in use and can’t be overwritten. Will need to wait until I can bounce the server then try re-install again.

After rebooting the server and re-installing, still finding the service starts, runs for about 5 seconds, then stops; see above for event log entry.

Hi Derek_Pattenson,

To resolve the issue, could you please disable your antivirus and/or profiler, or add SQLBackupAndFTP to their exception list?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Have now uninstalled and re-installed latest version (12.5.2). All running fine now - fingers crossed it continues to.
