Getting an ERROR 2006 (HY000) when trying to restore from a previous backup. It points to a line number, when I look at that line number it is an INSERT for a very large row containing a blob. Everything I find says this is either a max_allowed_packet or wait_timeout issue but I’ve tried changing those on my server without results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To investigate this case we need more details. Could you please let us know what server type do you use during the connection? Also, could you please send us an example of the command with which the problem occurs?
