Hi,
We keep having this error everyday, so the backup is being upload through FTP to a folder on Egnyte. Months ago this was working fine but now it has to try to upload the backup at least 5 times before is able to make it. The backup size is around 5GB and the error usually states that it failed to upload because it is not connected to the server, then it shows that the server closed the connection and then that the operation was not completed within the specified time limit.
I would like to know if there are some specific settings we should use in order to avoid so many tries and to ensure a db backup with no errors. Thank you.
Hi Rosie,
Since this setup worked fine before and now suddenly fails, it most likely means Egnyte has introduced new limits or timeouts on large FTP uploads.
As a quick test, please try splitting the backup into smaller parts (e.g., 0.5GB each).
.
Thank you for your reply Oleg. It was working before with the free version, as soon as we bought the license started to fail. And I think the option to split the backup into smaller parts won’t work for us. Thank you.
Hi Rosie,
Thank you for your reply.
We suggested splitting the backup into smaller parts mainly for diagnostic purposes — this helps us understand whether the issue is caused by the file size or by connection limits on the Egnyte side.
Could you please let us know which SQLBackupAndFTP version was used when everything was still working fine, and which version you are using now, when the issue started?
You can see the version number in your backup logs — it appears in the first line of each backup log.
