An error occurred sending the request > Stream does not support reading

Hi Community,

We have just started backing up our 40+ databases to OneDrive for Business. Most of the databases successfully upload to OneDrive, but sporadically, sometimes larger databases (3GB+) aren’t able to be uploaded due to the following error:

2:05:54am [Info] Uploading local “database_name.zip” to remote “database_name.zip” in folder “/remote_folder”.
2:11:59 AM [Warning] Destination error: Failed to upload file. > Code: generalException

Stream does not support reading.

Stream does not support reading.

Any insight on this problem would be much appreciated. I’m not sure if this has to do with the database size, Microsoft or our own server. The error message does not make it clear.

Thank you!

Hello IT_Department2,

The issue you encountered occurs infrequently due to the intensive use of OneDrive for Business. When OneDrive for Business is heavily utilized, it may impose download limitations.

OneDrive for Business should return to normal operation after a certain period, following the throttling rules outlined in this article: Avoid getting throttled or blocked in SharePoint Online | Microsoft Learn.

We can confirm that we have implemented all Microsoft recommendations and have also referred to them on their forums. However, we cannot guarantee a 100% resolution of this issue. Occasionally, this problem may persist for some customers.

If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know.

Thank you.
