Hello,

We are taking backup to a local folder and a folder on NAS. We have multiple instances of SQL server on the same server and have configured different jobs to run backups of all databases in each instance.

Backups run fine and most of the backups are copied to NAS. Except few backups which failed to get copied to NAS box with following error

17-05-2022 10:58:21 [Error] Destination error: ${https://sqlbackupandftp.com/kb?id=DST-1%3A1102%231021|#[DST-1:1102#1021]} Failed to create folder “BcData_SU4”. > Access to the path is denied.

In NAS box - we have one folder inside which we have subfolders for each instance. We have configured user/password and everything. This works fine if the job is run manually. But does not work for around 20-25% of the databases when run in the background service.

Thanks.

Hi Rahul_Jain,

Thank you for the details.

Could you please make sure that you specified the user name and password in the Advanced destination settings? Please try to specify your user name with the domain.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thank you!

Hello Alexander,

This problem persists for us.

  • We have specified the path for NAS folder
  • We have specified the username / password also

Please note that the backup runs fine for first few databases. So if a server has 50 databases - it will run fine for first 10 databases. And copy them to both local drive and NAS drive. After that it will start failing to copy to NAS drive.

It is definitely not an issue with credentials - but something else.

Hello Rahul_Jain,

Could you please verify that the user, on behalf of whom the connection to the NAS is being made, has the privileges to create a folder on the network drive?

Additionally, please ensure that the username is specified along with the domain. The domain name may be the name of the NAS.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thank you, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
