I have been using the trial version, which has now expired and turned into the free version. Honestly, I would be okay with the free version, with the one notable exception, email. And, honestly, it annoys me a little.
According to the Features, it is supposed to send me an email in the free version. But, it doesn’t. Instead, the log now tells me to upgrade to get an email.
So, what other features do I get if I upgrade to the Lite version? The web page, appears, to be wrong at this point. I have two servers to backup, plan daily full version backups, and only need the email to tell me if the backups succeeded or not.
In the Free version, email notifications from SQLBackupAndFTP servers are limited, and only paid versions with an active Full-Service subscription include built-in email notifications.
However, email notifications are still available in the Free version if you configure your own SMTP server. For instructions on setting up email notifications with your own SMTP server, please refer to this guide: How to send SQL backup confirmations through Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo.
If you prefer built-in email notifications without additional setup, the Lite version with an active Full-Service subscription should meet your needs.
