I have SQLBackupAndFTP ver 12.2.9 running 4 back jobs. The jobs are all running fine except for the email notification. It is generating the following error on all jobs:
10/1/2019 8:08 PM Can’t send email to firstname.lastname@example.org: Errors while compiling a Template.
Please try the following to solve the situation:
- If the problem is about missing/invalid references or multiple defines either try to load
the missing references manually (in the compiling appdomain!) or
Specify your references manually by providing your own IReferenceResolver implementation.
See https://antaris.github.io/RazorEngine/ReferenceResolver.html for details.
Currently all references have to be available as files!
- If you get ‘class’ does not contain a definition for ‘member’:
try another modelType (for example ‘null’ to make the model dynamic).
NOTE: You CANNOT use typeof(dynamic) to make the model dynamic!
Or try to use static instead of anonymous/dynamic types.
More details about the error:
- error: (145, 3) The type ‘System.Object’ is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly ‘System.Runtime, Version=184.108.40.206, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a’.
Test emails are sent without issue.
Thank you for the details. Please give us some time to check and fix the issue.
Also, could you please try to install the latest release of .NET Framework https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework perhaps it will resolve the issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Is there a "public: answer that you guys can provide other than “please send us more details so we can fix the issue…” Doesn’t seem to be serious concern but only to sell subscriptions.
I’ll keep checking for simple questions I have such as the “free” version says it can send email notifications but I’m assuming my install expired? That’d be good to know ahead of time. Is your web site sales into wrong or am I missing how I can send emails following a full backup in the “free” edition?
Silly workaround for a COTS product… OK.
Thank you for your messages.
Since 2008 more then a million users installed SQLBackupAndFTP, and hundreds of thousands of customers use our application (all editions, even Free) without any issues. As with every tool, bugs are possible, but we try to fix them as fast as we can. Most of the cases our customers face relate to internal user settings. From our side, we do our best to resolve all the issues our customers have.
With SQLBackupAndFTP Free edition you can also receive the email notifications if your backups failed or are successful. To do it, you have to set your own SMTP Server settings, here are more details https://sqlbackupandftp.com/blog/how-to-send-sql-backup-confirmations-through-my-gmail-hotmail-or-yahoo-account
With an active Full-Service subscription, you can use our mail servers for the email notifications. Here are more details about the subscription https://sqlbackupandftp.com/blog/full-service-subscription
Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with.
